"O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come." (Psalm 65:2)

Prayer Requests for September, 2010

RAYMOND AND MARY EBBETT:  Home Assignment Ministries

Please pray for Raymond and Mary Ebbett as they minister in missionary conferences in Alliance churches beginning this month.  Mary leaves on September 11th to speak in churches in Wisconsin.  Raymond leaves on September 18th to minister in churches in Ohio.  Pray for God’s anointing, for safety in their travel and for physical health and strength.

VISAS for New Workers

We praise God for the López family, recently assigned as new workers to Spain. They arrived in late August and have recently rented a house near their teammates. Pray for them as they adjust to a new country and culture, and for their two boys as they begin school very shortly.  Pray also for a speedy approval of their visa applications.

PASTORAL TRANSITION IN BARCELONA

Please continue to pray for our Alliance congregation in Barcelona as they prepare to call a new pastor. Ask the Lord to guide the church leadership during this time of transition. Pray also for healing and unity, as the departure of the previous pastor has sown division in the church. Pray, too, for Joel Martinez, who has agreed to serve as interim pastor during this time of transition.  He and Nancy continue to live in Granada, but will make periodic visits to Barcelona each month.

CHINESE CHURCH IN MADRID, Youth Ministry

John and Lorraine Young praise God for an excellent youth camp held this past summer. Some 30 young persons participated. Pray also for God’s blessing on Liliana, a Colombian youth leader from the Latin American church with whom the Chinese share a rented building. She has agreed to serve as a part-time youth director, since many of the Chinese youth prefer Spanish over Mandarin.

GORDON AND KATHIE MUNRO:  CANARY ISLAND UPDATE

Thank you for your prayers for Gordon and Kathie Munro, who are now on site in their new apartment (rented in early August) on the island of La Palma.  They are assisting a lay pastor in a church planting project.  They also have started a youth ministry.  Pray specifically for the salvation of Juan, Aaron, and Yeray, three young people who have attended youth events recently.

Pray for them as they adjust to a very different situation in this new ministry. Gordon is already teaching classes in a theological education by extension program in the church.  Pray for God´s grace in all their adjustments to this new ministry in a new setting. Pray also for the safe arrival of their belongings, which are being shipped to them from the Spain mainland.  Gordon will also be traveling to the neighboring island of Tenerife this month to minister for five days in a new congregation there, performing weddings and baptisms.

UPDATE: HEALING FOR TWO PASTORS’ WIVES

Thank you so much for praying in recent months for Patty Zuniga (wife of pastor Juan Zuniga) and Mayerling Zapata (wife of pastor Jose Zapata).  Patty had several surgeries this past Spring for a detached retina in her left eye.  Praise God that she is doing much better.  Pray for a complete healing.  Back in March Mayerling suffered multiple fractures in her leg in a bad accident at an ice skating rink. Serious surgery was required, but Mayerling has made tremendous, if not miraculous improvement and now walks without crutches or a cane. Please pray for complete healing for her as well, as she is still experiencing some pain and discomfort.  Both these women and their respective husbands are very active in ministry in general and in the College of Prayer in particular.  Please pray for a complete recovery for both of them.

MOSAIC PROJECT, Granada

Please pray for our Mosaic church-planting team in Granada as they begin a new church year and activities.  They held a very successful English camp this past summer.  Pray for fruit as they follow up on contacts and friendships made during the camp.

RAYMOND EBBETT: report on Missions Congress in Ecuador

Thank you for praying for Raymond Ebbett, who traveled to Ecuador in late August to participate in a national missions congress sponsored by the Ecuadorian Alliance National Church.  It was attended by several hundred Alliance pastors and leaders and went extremely well.  It is encouraging to see the growing missions vision of our Latin American churches. Pray that God will give them wisdom as they prepare and send out cross-cultural workers across the globe, with particular focus on the Muslim world.
